Carles Mateo’s books: accessible, useful, and immediately applicable technical learning

At Infinitum Digital, we are fortunate to have professionals who, in addition to excelling in their daily work, actively contribute to the tech community by sharing knowledge.

One of them is Carles Mateo, engineer, programmer, and systems manager with a brilliant career. Carles started programming at a very young age and, throughout his career, has worked in multinational companies and startups at both national and international levels, leading technical teams around the world. His experience covers cloud environments, development, operations, and systems.

With all this background, Carles wanted to transfer all his knowledge to his books, always written with a clear goal: to make technical learning accessible, useful, and applicable from the very first minute.

A book collection designed to help

His journey as an author began during the pandemic, when he saw how many people were looking for new professional opportunities and wanted to learn programming. This motivated him to create practical, straightforward books focused on solving real problems.

Below, we present the main titles he has published, both in English and Catalan:

  • Docker Combat Guide (2022): A practical guide to learning Docker with examples designed for programmers and technical profiles who want to incorporate containers into their workflow.
  • Python Combat Guide (2022): A book to learn Python from scratch to an intermediate-advanced level, with clear explanations and useful examples for any new programmer.
  • ZFS on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (2022): A guide to understanding and applying ZFS, an advanced storage system widely used in professional settings, especially where reliability and security are essential.
  • Python 3 Exercises for beginners (2022): A collection of exercises in English, Catalan, and Spanish to practice Python with progressively increasing difficulty.

A personal view at technical autorship

Carles’s books stand out for three key elements:

  • Absolute practicality: Everything explained can be applied immediately.
  • Clear explanations: Tackles complex topics using understandable language.
  • Constant updating: Always specifies language and technology versions to ensure the content is current.

He also reflects on the importance of respecting authors’ work, especially in the technical field, where piracy can severely affect the sustainability of specialized content creation.

In conclusion, Carles Mateo’s books represent a unique combination of experience, pedagogy, and passion for technology. At Infinitum Digital, we are proud to have professionals who not only bring value to projects but also contribute to training the next generation of developers, system administrators, and engineers.
