Infinitum Digital has conceived and developed an IBEXA DXP platform for Iceland Seafood International that centralizes all product information and connects teams globally, implementing an intranet that gathers information and improves internal communication, a sales app, a corporate website, and a network of personalized local websites for each market. This technological solution has allowed for more efficient management, fostering global cohesion and improving business processes, while also personalizing the user experience according to the market.

The customer

Iceland Seafood International (ISI) is a leading Icelandic company in the production, processing, and export of high-quality seafood products. With over 80 years of experience, its origins date back to 1932, with the merger of Iceland's main cod producers under the name SIF. In 1990, SIF created Union Iceland to enhance its service in the Iberian Peninsula. In 1999, SIF merged with Iceland Seafood, a major frozen fish exporter. In Spain, Union Iceland merged with the company Armengol. ISI focuses on supplying international markets, especially in Europe, North America, and Asia, distributing fresh fish, frozen fish, and processed products to both wholesalers and retailers. It is also specialized in value-added products, such as fish-based prepared meals.

The objectives

The task assigned to Infinitum digital was to establish a global strategy for information management and communication for all companies of Iceland Seafood International (ISI). This strategy is based on creating a digital space that centralizes information, decentralizes management, and personalizes the experience according to the target audience. To achieve this, they have implemented an Ibexa DXP platform, with a corporate intranet that serves as a centralized repository of information and facilitates internal communication. In addition, the digital space includes a sales application, a corporate website, and a network of local websites adapted to each market. The first step was the development of the intranet, which stores and unifies commercial and corporate information, allowing access from any device and facilitating the creation of work groups.

To cover all these needs, a 360º digital ecosystem is defined, composed of:

  • An Intranet, which provides work and communication tools to the staff, and serves as a centralized repository for corporate, commercial, and marketing information.
  • An application for tablets, for use by the company's sales staff, which collects and displays product information managed from the intranet in an appropriate manner.
  • A corporate website, which presents the company and shows a suitable image of its scope and dimensions.
  • A local network of websites, distributed by markets, that provides updated information about their products and activities.

The first step in implementing this strategy is the development of a corporate intranet with the following requirements:

Store the commercial information of each company, allowing later output to target audiences.

  • Consolidate the corporate information of each of the companies, segmented by the countries where ISI has commercial presence.
  • Serve as a tool for corporate empowerment.
  • Allow the creation of work groups and facilitate communication among workers.
  • To be easily accessible regardless of the device used to access it: smartphone, tablet, or desktop computer.
  • Define a standard data collection model (textual and multimedia) to create product sheets.

The first thing that was created was an intranet for all the company's employees, starting with Spain, with the aim of gradually expanding to other countries.

The second step was the development of a tablet app for the sales team in order to achieve:

  • Agile internal support for sales teams.

The intranet and the development of an application have allowed the following advantages aimed at improving productivity:

Infinitum Digital also created the corporate website for Iceland Seafood and has developed a system for creating local websites, as there may be two companies from the group in the same country. Ibexa DXP has provided a robust, secure, and scalable solution for the centralized creation and management of multiple websites from a single web control panel.

For the development of these technological solutions, it has been essential to work on a unified and global communication strategy. By having a website for the group, the information provided is more consistent, making it easier to unify the messages.

Although it is later customized according to the market, the information used, being centralized thanks to the intranet, is the same for the entire group, and helps facilitate business processes and achieve business objectives.
