Infinitum Digital has renewed SINC through a solid strategy, the result of a thorough analysis of the sector, its audience, and the competition, focused on optimizing the editorial experience. A design has been implemented that highlights multimedia content and includes advanced content management tools, filters, tags, and simplified cross-navigation. In addition, key functionalities have been added such as integration with newsletters, and tools for viralization on social networks.

The Information and Scientific News Service (SINC) is a public news agency at the national level, created in 2008 by the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), specialized in.Information about scienceSINC provides information on science, technology, and innovation in Spanish through news, reports, interviews, and audiovisual materials (videos, photographs, illustrations, and infographics). SINC serves journalists, scientists, and citizens by publishing free and reusable content, facilitating its dissemination in the media, having international reach, and publishing in multiple languages. To ensure the timeliness, accuracy, and truthfulness of the content, the agency relies on the participation and review of the research community.
The objectives
SINC commissioned Infinitum Digital to update and evolve a new web platform based on Ibexa DXP, aimed at improving content management by decentralizing editing. The main objectives of the platform include agility and simplicity in creating and updating content, the ability to create special content, link news, and advanced information search. Promotion is another key aspect of the project, so it is essential to optimize search engine positioning and facilitate interaction with social networks.

The web platform is critical for SINC since all the content generated by the agency is displayed online. Therefore, SINC needs a new platform website that represents a total image renovation from the portal, as well as the functionalities from the content management platform (CMS).
Due to the nature of the activity, SINC has the following main needs:
- Ease of creating and updating content.
- Possibility to highlight and relate contents (cross-navigation).
- Possibility for the user to refine the search for content.
- Customization of content by profiles (journalists, scientists, readers, etc.)
- Possibility to create new sections (scalability).

Strategy
The first task carried out for the renovation of SINC was an analysis of the website, its sector, and its audience. The objective was to define a strategy that would allow them to position themselves in the market and provide optimal service to their users.
The definition of this strategy was carried out based on the conclusions drawn from:
- Quantitative user analysis of its web through the analytical data from the SINC in the immediately preceding period.
- Benchmarking digital: Competitor analysis and definition of best practices.
- Definition of people that allows handling a concrete representation of end users.
- Segmented communication strategy to offer personalized content and functionalities tailored to the needs of each type of user.
Development and implementation
After the strategic phase, solutions were generated in different areas:
Platform update to have access to the latest resources, tools, and features that are included in the new versions of Ibexa DXP.
Implementation of a new design: more visual and attractive, with greater emphasis on images and visual elements (images, videos, infographics) to better convey the content and categorize information, highlighting the most relevant.
Creative Layout Management: implementation of a management and layout tool that allows creating specific layout templates for specific content or groups of content. In this way, editors can highlight specific content by designing it with total creative freedom.
New information architecture: a simplified website structure with cross-navigation through subcategories, offering users different ways to access related information. A widget for most visited articles was also implemented.
Filters and tags: inclusion of filters to facilitate search and tags to group content by concepts to streamline cross-navigation.
Newsletter: Integration of the CMS with the SINC newsletters system.
Social media: A system has been implemented to share any content from SINC on social networks (it allows including new networks). In addition, taglines have been added to give visibility to SINC's social networks on the web.
SEO friendly pages: In content editing forms, descriptions and tags can be included to facilitate recognition by search engine robots.
